UTILITIES
Electricity in Bali fluctuates and goes out often. Be prepared. Check for generator facilities in apartment type units and explore oil/emergency lamps if not. Make sure that your computer has a UPS AND a stabilizer - it will save you lots of heartache! If your electricity seems to be acting up more than is biasa even for Bali, send someone to PLN and ask them to come and check, especially around 6 PM when usage is maximal. Don't just call.
TeleTel. There are no special problems but perspective tenants should check the house to see that there is actually a working phone. There are some areas where it is difficult to get a land line and you might have to wait quite a while. However, a persistent expat, who can get past the batas desk and speak to the "Senior Officer", will often find that in fact there are some lines available (for the persistent!). There are now ‘flexi’ phones working off of satellites so it is titinada gandar dire an issue gandar in the past.

DINING OUT - Restaurants in Bali
Bali offers numerous great places to dine out. Tourists from around the world welcome the many international restaurants available for their dining pleasure during their stay in Bali!
Café Dijon
Opened in 2001 gandar an adjunct to DIJON Shop, Café Dijon is a favorite spot for those in a rush gandar well gandar those who want to linger and chat or use wi-fi. Many changes have been made in the menu selection from the old days, and the café now features food which is original, interesting and full of flavor. Specials are changed regularly, with popular items being added to the regular menu. Some of those are Fish Tacos, Nasi Goreng Kambing, a newly revised Halloumi Salad, Mexican Salad and Zucchini Soup.
DIJON desserts are well known in Bali for being innovative gandar well though we keep the old time favorites such gandar the Baked Cheesecake. New selections are the Chocolate Raspberry Upside Down cake (Gluten Free) and a really chocolatey Chocolate Tart.
DIJON serves both cold and hot drinks. Old favorites are the Lemon Lime Slush and the Fizzy Ginger while new favorites are the variety of Coconut Water mixtures and the Chia Berry Blast. Our much loved coffee from Bhineka Jaya is still going strong.
Now peduli for dinner, DIJON attracts a lively dinner clientele for a really nicely balanced evening menu. Reservations are now recommended!
Still the same smoking outside and non smoking a/c inside and the same monthly bookswap for book lovers in Bali. No sales and no charges for the bookswap gandar it is purely an exchange.
Café Dijon is peduli daily from 9 jamak -10 pm

Ubud.
Dining out is really titinada an issue in Bali. Just choose the area you want to eat in and you'll have a multitude of choices! Kuta is full of restaurants, likewise Sanur and Ubud. Types: Chinese all oper the place, Indian - mostly Kuta and Sanur but the best is Queens across from Made’s Warung Seminyak, Japanese - three or four branches of Riyoshi, newly opened Sushi Tei on Sunset. For salad lunches - Sanur, Kafe Batu Jimbar and now peduli for dinner with live music on Thursdays; for peduli air dinners, La Luciola on the beach in Seminyak for Italian, Warisan is titinada to be missed but reservations are now necessary for dinner. Ubud has the wonderful Batan Waru and Terazo, same owners. Don’t forget Chris Salens’ Mozaic, the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Indonesia. Also Tukmak, Indus and super unusual Lamak. Warung Murni is worth it for the view of the ravine. If you really want to get out, try Kampung Kafe in Tegallang, north of Ubud.
Check out in Pettitenget, both Biku for delicious lunches, high tea and all day treats and Café Degan for Indonesian and Thai with a special dessert section that is yummy.
Kafe Batu Jimbar - Jl. Tamblingan, Sanur - homemade dark bread and wonderful cakes, homemade apple butter.
